Active Learning 9 - Reflection

1) During PE this year, how have you shown you are prepared and willing to participate 
in a variety of activities?  On what days have you participated to your best effort and 
why?  What days have been a struggle for you and why?


  I am always prepared with gym strip and a good attitude. I put my best effort in all the time. When we do choice, fitness and class games. I try to do my hardest in fitness because i was not that good at it last year. This year i want it to be different. 

2) How do you contribute to the overall success of the class?  What kind of attitude do 
you bring and why?  How do you interact with other students in our class?

As I said I bring a good attitude I am always smiling and cheering people up! I want to see kids have fun in gym and not be saying "omg i hate fitness or beep test." Ill be like yeah fitness time to set a new goal for myself to achieve. At the beginning of the year I was very kind to all the new grade 8 students and helped them answer any questions they had.Also just being a good roll model about gym and showing that it is a fun class to be in.

3)Describe your participation during fitness days - have you been able to push yourself 
physically?  What types of fitness activities do you enjoy the most?  What fitness 
goals do you have for the rest of the year? 

I do push myself  right until fitness is over. I do like to workout hard and like to do fitness because it makes u healthy and strong.I enjoy doing circuits around the school running because i like to run. Also like it when u add in obstacle courses just makes it even more fun and challenging . I also like when we go across the gym doing running,skipping,bear walks. That is really fun and hardworking. My fitness goals are to keep working hard and pushing myself until the end of class. I really want to work harder this year in gym then when I did last year.

4)What does "leadership" mean to you?  Who are the best leaders in our class - why?  
Leadership means to me roll models and people who are encouraging other students to try and do there best in class. The leaders in our class i would have to say are all of the grade nine students because I think the grade 8 students look up to us. We are just very helpful to the grade 8 and want them to do there best. I think we will all become one big family because we are all getting so close to one another and this class is all year long.

5)What improvements would you like to make in PE by the end of the year?  What are 
you the most proud of so far?

An improvement I want to make is defiantly setting goals for fitness. Reaching those goals and setting highers expectations for myself. Also encouraging my friends to put more effort into what there doing in class. I am most proud of the way I have been acting this semester. I am alot more open minded and happy about for example fitness. Lat year i would say "uhhh fitness I hate MY LIFE." haha maybe not quite like that but you get the idea.(: But now i say yeah fitness I love fitness. Or even the weight room I really like the weight room and playing games with our class together so much fun!! (:

6) Finally, what letter grade A, B, C+, C, C- (gulp) best represents the effort you just described? 

I think that I do deserve an A just because of  how much I have changed from last year. i have a better attitude about going into gym and love doing fitness. See last year I would say a B or C+ because I wasn't as confident about my body and fitness level. But this year Its a new me and I am very confident about my fitness habits. Also happy I have you as a teacher you are my favorite teacher and so glad to spend the rest of the semester with you and the class!! (:

I have actually started going to the gym with my dad. Its a goal I wanted to do on new years. I go to the YMCA gym.First I go on the walking machine to warm up. Second I go on the bike to again warm up. Third I will go on the tred mill full out running and then a sprint at the end for at least 45 minutes or so. If i only do 20-30 minutes I get mad at myself because my goal is always to reach 45 minutes.After the tred mill I do weights with my dad just to tone not to make my arms bigger.My favorite machine is the abs machine I really like to go out that sometimes my dad can't get me off it. My dad really likes me to spend time with him on the weights. I guess it is sort of a way that we bond by working out. I am also trying to encourage my sister and mom to go to the gym sometimes we do yoga together but that really does nothing for me haha. I just go to make my sister happy and to see her workout with me makes me happy. Going to the gym has really changed my fitness level in PE. I use to be at a 6 in the beep test but i can go to level 9 now. For 25 minutes run I can run the full 25 minutes last year i had to walk it. For community run i ran the whole thing none stop my friends couldn't keep up so i just went ahead of them. I am just 10x more better in gym now that i have started going to the gym. Overall I love PE. I love this class. I am excited for next semester and hope we have more games. I think we have to much of 'choice' and the grade 8 just don't do anything I really don't like 'choice' I think its lazy and not very fun. I enjoy being just with our class in the small gym .weight room or large gym or outside just simply playing a game. I find I have way more fun and still exercise.You have been a great teacher so far I think I am writing to much. :( So i will stop!! okay. And I will never forgot when u called me a chatter box. :( And everyone agreed with you! I DON'T EVEN TALK THAT MUCH! Anyway just wanted to say thank you. You have been a great teacher so far and I am very excited for next semester!!!!!(:(:(:(:

  1. Perfect. Love your post.. especially the stuff about hanging with Dad and making exercise a part of your family routine. That is key to the longevity of your fitness program. That will stay with you long after PE ends. I am very happy to hear you have turned a corner with your attitude towards Active Learning class and if I help with that... all the better. I really enjoy having you in class and I look forward to seeing your beep scores climb and your community run times drop. :)
